 Karen
Wilson: Mandolin
Karen, in literary research, resides in
Loudonville NY. Studying music with Glen Weiser, she acquired the basics of style and theory. During the mid 90's, Karen and husband Jeff played electric and acoustic music in local bars and coffee houses,
in bands "False Face", "Maxwell Road", and "Toast". Karen plays a wicked slide mandolin, and in 1977, began studying with mandolin legend, Frank Wakefield,
with whom she continues to play regularly. "The Cabin Fever Band" is Karen's first
foray into full-tilt Bluegrass, and she has happily found her niche with the band. "This music speaks to me. It really lets me get in touch with the spirit of what I think the Mandolin is all about, " says Karen. |
 Mike VanAlstyne: Vocals & Banjo
Mike, a resident of
Greenwich, NY, works in construction as a crane operator. Mike's hard driving banjo style pulls from the influences of Stover, Thompson, Keith, Stanley and Hicks, while his singing brings to mind Bill Monroe and Del McCoury. A regular on the bluegrass circuit for many years, Mike has performed from Maine to Indiana and parts of Canada, playing and recording with many bands including "Smokey Greene", Cedar Ridge", "Fish and Friends", "Northern Blend", and the "Echo Mountain Band" from Kingston, Ontario. |
